Textra

How It Works

Letters

The Textra Keypad has four additional smaller slightly taller buttons – the Textra Buttons – embedded within a standard numeric keypad. They may be coloured for identification purposes, normally blue, yellow, red and green.

Letters are arranged around the Textra buttons. When keying a letter, the thumb or fingertip naturally pushes a Textra button and the number button(s) adjacent to that letter, keying it with a single finger stroke.

For letter 'a' the fingertip pushes both the blue Textra button and number '1' button.

For letter 'b' the fingertip pushes the blue, '1' and '2' buttons.

For letter 'c' the fingertip pushes both the blue Textra button and number '2' button.

And so on for the rest of the alphabet.

Keying each letter with a single finger stroke means that there is no need for the phone to guess what word you may be entering and any words or text abbreviations can easily be entered.

The alphabetic letter sequence and alignment of vowels provide a supremely memorable layout and the prominent Textra buttons allow for easy tactile operation.

Numbers

The Textra Keypad retains the standard 12-button numeric phone keypad, so users will already be familiar with how to enter numbers. Numbers are keyed as usual ignoring the Textra buttons, without the need for a separate numeric mode.

For number '1' the fingertip just pushes the number '1' button!

Space

For a space the fingertip pushes just the green Textra button.
